salem witch trials (crisis)
“We live in the dusky afternoon when evil mixed itself with good and befuddled the world.”
In the year 1692, the hysteria and widespread fear of witches in the small village of Salem, Massachusetts was at the height of its influence. What started as the odd behaviors of 9 and 11-year-old Betty Parris and Abigail Williams has snowballed into court allegations, lengthy trials, and public executions. Additionally, previous tensions between neighboring communities and the rigid religious institutions of the theocratic regime have exacerbated the situation at hand. The townsmen are officially congregating in the courtroom on Wednesday morning, July 9th, prior to the trial of Rebecca Nurse, settling once and for all the legitimacy of the accusations and the validity of the trials. As a member of this committee, you must advocate for what you believe to be just in Salem, and allow your opinions to be heard in court. However, while some members of the town are willing to put their lives at stake to eradicate the delirium and prevent the loss of lives, other influential individuals may hold personal motives to continue the Salem Witch Trials. Delegates must utilize their persuasion, intuition, and quick thinking to adapt to unprecedented events during committee and change the course of history.
